Status of Establishment

The Armenian Evangelical Shamlian Tatigian Secondary School has a notable history marked by its establishment in 1934, during a time of great need within the Armenian community in Lebanon.

The school was officially recognized on April 6, 1964, under the establishment number 16019, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of education for the local Armenian population.

The institution was founded to provide quality education and preserve Armenian heritage in the Nor Marash neighborhood of Bourj Hammoud, a hub for Armenians who had resettled in Lebanon following the tragic events of the Armenian Genocide. Over the decades, it has evolved from a modest elementary school into a full secondary school, offering comprehensive educational programs and playing a significant role in the cultural and social development of the community.

The formal recognition in 1964, which coincided with the construction of a modern school building funded by benefactors Mr. and Mrs. J. Shamlian and Mr. G. Tatigian, marked a pivotal moment in the school’s history, enabling it to expand its reach and impact. Today, the school continues to uphold the values and vision upon which it was built, fostering academic excellence and cultural pride in its students.
